Backup Exec 2010 - RD1000 - B2D Folder vs. Removeable Folder

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hello All,

We have a customer (actually many) that are using SBS 2011, and Backup Exec for SBS, and an RD1000 (internal and external).

This seems to NEVER work, NEVER eject, etc.  I do not claim ot be an expert using Backup Exec - in this case Ver 2010.

I would like to set up a two cartridge rotatation using B2D folders, one for daily differential backups, and another for a weekly backup.

I have created a folder on each cartridge - DAILYDIFF for the daily diff backups, and WEEKLY 1 for a weekly backup.

the media set for the weekly backup is set for overwrite protection for 5 days, the media set for the daily is set to append for 6 days, and overwrite

when full.  The current config is set for backup to disk folders as I want to have a separate cart for each backup type.

Problem 1 - the cartridges never eject, have to stop services, then eject from Windows Explorer. The customer is not savvy enough to do this.

Problem 2 - if I eject a cartridge, i.e. swap out the daily cart, and use the weekly, the job will not start and will not overwrite (I have the weekly full job to start as "overwrite".

In order to get the job (either job) to work, I have to stop BE services,  format the cart, re-create the folder in Windows, and restart the BE services, and re-point to the folder on the cart.

I must be doing something wrong here.  Should I use the "removeable folder" method instead?  I still want to use separatte cartridges for daily differential

and weekly backups.

Any input will help,

Thanks,

Eric H - Group Oliver
