Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Environment Details:

Master Server: AIX 6.1, NetBackup 7.5.0.5

Client: Windows 2008 R2, Clustered, NetBackup 7.5.0.5

Issue:

Backup of DFSR data from Windows 2008 R2 client failed with error 69.

"Unable to backup System State or Shadow Copy. Please check the state of VSS and associated Writers.INF - EXIT STATUS 69: invalid filelist specification"

"vssadmin list writers" from client report all writers as "Stable" and "No Error".

No application events related to VSS on Cleint

Logs from Client report that:

"WRN - Can't open file: Shadow copy components ..... Win32 3: The system can not find the path specified."

The backup has been tested with dedicated policy and only DFSR folder to avoid multiple streams but result was same failure.

The issue is more related to VSS and Microsoft, but any ideas to proceed will be helpful and appreciated.

How to set up backup job with overwrite on B2D

Hello everyone,

We have a backup job that stores data on B2D folder. At the job settings there is a keep for option that is set up to 1 hour. The backup works fine but afte "some" time there is no any data on the B2D folder. However I would like it to be overwritten. I suppose that the backup is removed after the 1 hour period. Is there any way to set up the backup job without the keep for option only with recommendation that the data should be overwritten? What's the best practise for?

Help on BU2010 Media ID and GUID Information

Hello,

We suspect someone may have taken 1 or 2 full series of tapes we used to use.  We had (5) tape series, each about 15 tapes labaeled A, B, C, D, E

We do not have the physical tapes for Series A or B

I would like to know how we can tell if any of the A or B tapes were actually reused instead of being missing?  I looked through SQL report and found the media ID and GUID of all of our tapes and dont find any that match but something interesting I did find is it shows multiple tapes for things like Set A Tape 1.  I will copy and paste.

What does this mean having multiple data for the same tape name?

Identifying Netbackup Image in Catalogue for a particular Media Server/Client

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hello Honourable House,

I have a Netbackup an old Netbackup 7.0.1 domain which I have is not on the my network again but running currently.

I have to go to the server directly and connect to the console whenver I need an information in the domain.I have backup with infinity retention taken in this domain.

I am running my backup environment on a 7.5.0.5 plartform now (a different domain with different hardware) but was installed with the same hostname as the

formar 7.0.21 domain.

Actually we suggested to upgrade the 7.0.1 to 7.5.0.5 then but management says we must install a new 7.5.0.5 and do a cutover by directing all our media servers and clients .Already the 7.5.0.5 has the same hostname as the 7.0.1 ,so we have to isolate the 7.0.1 from network and start twith full backups on the 7.5.0.5 domain.

Now , a customer needs a backup data with an infinite retention in the   7.0.1 domain.

My major challenge is that I cannot launch NBU JAVA GUI when I connect through the console of the server of the 7.0.1 domain so that I can use BAR to get this images and  the tapes ,then import them in the 7.5.0.5 domain and then restore the data.

However, all netbackup processes and services are running.I can run available media scripts to get expired media, bpps etc.but cannot launch JAVA GUI .

Is there a command to run querry all infinite images for a particular client but best is to be able to launch the NBU ADMIN CONSOLE and all will be fine.

Can I get help to be able to launch the Admin Console.

NB:

-I am running the scripts /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jnbSA

-No DNS  now and I am using host files

I need a help on this as this customer is on my neck

The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped.

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

I've been wrestling with BE2012's backup-to-disk.  I had a disk configured and in the course of setting up this server I filled up that disk.  I wasn't able to purge the disk using BE so I removed it as a BE storage device, and reformatted the disk.  Now I'm trying to add it back into BE as a storage device.  When I run the Configure Storage wizard it won't give me that disk as choice.

The disk is bare.  What else to I have to do to get BE to allow me to select that disk as a backup-to-disk destination again?

Thanks

Bill

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

hi all,

i'm using BE2012 R2 to backup files into 2 hard disk drives(2T a HDD), then store these backup disks to the bank.

the question is that, if there is a disaster, my server was burnt out, then how can i restore all the data with only the backup HDD.

i have a test with this,

1. install WinServer2008R2, with the same computer name of the original backup server

2. install BE 2012 R2

3. mount the 2 backup HDDs

4. catalog these 2 HDDs

then i got error information,
Final error: 0xe0000900 - The requested media is not listed in the media index and could not be mounted. To add the media's catalog information to the disk-based catalogs, run an inventory operation on the media and resubmit the Catalog operation.
Final error category: Backup Media Errors

google & search for many knowledge base, i was told that to settings->catalog, uncheck"use storage media base catalogs.", and restart BE services.

I tried, but fail, i took several hours then inform me fail, crazy~~~~~

so , please help for this, how can i restore the data just with the backup HDD?????

Scheduled image cleanup not running for tape backups

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi,

Master  - Suse Linux 11 SP3 ,Netbackup 7.5.0.5

We are facing a issue with image cleanup job not running automatically for tape backups and due to this the catalog disk is gettign filled up. It completes fine if we run it manually using bpimage -cleanup -allclients and deletes expired records to free up space .

Also as the image clean up job does not start so does not see any indication of it in Admin log .For disk based backups to Advance disk and MSDP the image cleaup is running fine .

I am not able to recall a switch in nbpemreq command using which you can check that when the next image cleaup is scheduled to run .It generally runs after 12 hours which is mentioned in host properties but not  running at the moment

Please if anybody can suggest where we can check in to troubleshoot the issue ....?

Regards,

Abhishek

Backup Exec 2012 - Media Set advice

Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi,

I am setting up media sets for our backups. We currently backup as follows:

  • Monday: Incremental
  • Tuesday: Incremental
  • Wednesday: Incremental
  • Thursday: Incremental
  • Friday: Full
  • Saturday: Incremental
  • Sunday: Incremental

These backups are backed up to disk and retained for 4 weeks, plus duplicated to the DR appliance (we have two 3600 R2 appliances). This allows us to restore from any day in the last 4 weeks from disk.

We also have a requirement to retain 6 months worth of backups. We have an LTO5 tape library connected to our CASO DR appliance and my next task is to configure the monthly backups. We would retain Month 1, Month 2, Month 3, Month 4, 5 and 6 for 6 months.

I have a couple of questions .

1. As I only wish to duplicate the monthly backups to Tape should I add a schedule to duplicate the full backup to tape the day after the monthly full runs? Presumably if I selected "Duplicate data immediately after source task completes" this would also duplicate the weekly backups.

2. What would be the best way to configure the media sets? As we have a 24 slot library I had thought one media set would be sufficient for the 6 months of backups, but from reading the admin guide and other resources I am unsure if that would be the right option as the append period would be need to last for  6 months. Would it be better to create a "month 1", "month 2" etc media sets and allow them only to append for a few days? If that was the best option would I then need to edit the job each month to select the correct media set?

Any advice appreciated, thanks. I've attached a screenshot of the current backup properties if that helps any.
